教学重点
|
1. Recall the fine qualities of great people that they have learned last class, including key words like “generous” and “devoted”.
2. Learn how to grasp information from listening to long passage instead of a short dialogue.
3. Use their own words to express their opinions about a person.

教学难点
|
1. Students are not active in English class. (13 class)
2. Students are bad at listening, especially find out specific information.
3. When ask them to free talk, they don’t know what to talk about. And then Chinese comes out.

Warming up (5 min)
1. Show the picture of Mark Twain, and ask students if they know him? If they don’t, tell them one of his master pieces is “The Adventure of Tom Sawyer”.
2. Share his another master piece “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” and tell the main idea of this book including racial discrimination, civil war and those unfair things between black and white.
3. However, nearly 100 years have past. Those unfair things still happened in South Africa.
Pre-reading (5 min)
1. Watch a short video clip from a documentary named “An Unauthorized Story on Nelson Mandela” and after watching, discuss with your partners “what things do you think were unfair in South Africa?”
2. Ask students to answer the question (they can refer to passage what they have learnt last class) and list some unfair things like: voting right, segregation, passbook, forcible removal and explain the new words and expressions to students.
First listening (3 min)
What does the story talk about?
A. The appreciation for Nelson Mandela.
B. Three reasons why Elias join the ANC Youth League
C. The reasons why Nelson Mandela found the ANC Youth League

Speaking #1 review (7 min)
1. Play the classification again but with different list and ask students what are the differences between famous people and great people:
Most great people are also famous people, but famous people may not be great people. A great person is someone who devotes his/her life to helping others.
2. What qualities can you recall to describe great people. (Except the adjectives on p.33, there are others on p.83 as reference)
Speaking #2 (7 min)
1. Can you think of other great people who made a great contribution to the world when they were facing significant difficulties? The speaking model as follows:
Student A: tell the story
Student B, C, D: What do you think of him/her?
What’s your opinions?
How do you feel about that?
I’ll give students an example by telling the story of Marie Gouze, a well-known feminist. After stating, ask student B, C, D about their opinions.
2. Ask one group to show their workout.

1. 学情分析没有做好,材料超出学生接受范围,以至于听了四遍,打乱上课原本计划,导致听力材料没听,有些同学可能依旧没听懂(14班)
2. 第二节做出调整,让学生朗读听力材料,但时间不充裕,拖堂5分钟
3. 听力和说没有结合好,说的内容有点突兀
4. discrimination 拼错了还写在黑板上

1. 修饰great people 的形容词除了阅读warming up部分之外, workbook里有两个活动也可以参考。
2. 听力难,可以边听边讲解。学生一般只听dialogue,听大段材料的话本身就很困难,更别提还得从文段中挑选信息。所以一定要在最后把听力的原文给学生参考。不然很多学生听几遍都听不懂。
